ASSOCIATION  OF  ROVER  CAR  CLUBS NZ (Inc)

The Association came into being about 1979 as a result of the efforts of Bob Lee in Waikato and several enthusiasts in Canterbury who modelled it on the English Association, which had been a useful organization for many years. We set up a working committee to give an umbrella organization to the NZ Rover Car Clubs, or a unified group to speak for the Clubs.

The tasks placed for the Association included:

  1. The writing of an ARCC Constitution and its official Incorporation.
  2. An upgrading of the Rules for judging cars at National Rallies.
  3. Organisational and financial loans assistance for Clubs hosting Nationals.
  4. Liaison with the Federation of Motoring Clubs. This (the ARCC) is the only link we have with the Federation which is a powerful lobby group, of which the LTSA and Government take notice.
  5. Set up a NZ wide Help Register.
  6. National listing of Parts Register. Probably impracticable, however the Clubs usually have a good idea of what they have in stock. Just ask.
  7. Liaison on behalf of Clubs with the NZ franchise holder for Rover. Probably no longer possible.
  8. Production of regalia, logo and badges.

Much has been achieved and there is still work to do. There have been differences of opinion between Clubs, but the Association is an established reality and continues to fulfil its main aim of coordination between the Clubs. One major success for 2007 has been the negotiation, through the FOMC of a Public Liability Insurance Policy for our Incorporated Society Clubs at a very good rate. In today’s world with shows and other public contact with our Clubs, this is probably useful Insurance to have.

David Raven (Waikato Club) is the 2012 National Secretary of the ARCC.
